There is a compliance timetable for the Standard on digital recordkeeping with requirements phased in for public offices up to 2012.

* Requirements in the Standard on the Physical Storage of State Records come into force on January 1 of each year.

** Principle 3 Shelving and packaging was due to commence on 1 July 2003, instead this principle will commence on 1 July 2005 to enable State Records to source appropriate archival boxes.

*** Requirements in the Standard on Counter Disaster Strategies for Records and Recordkeeping Systems came into effect on 21 June 2002.  The standard will be monitored from 1 January 2004.

**** Requirements in the Standard on Full and Accurate Records and the Standard on Managing a Records Management Program came into effect on 23 April 2004.

***** Requirements in the Standard on the appraisal and disposal of State records came into effect on 18 April 2007.
