Every effort will be made to produce the clearest copy possible with State Records' specialised equipment. Unfortunately, due to the condition of some original documents or the difficulty in deciphering handwriting, copies are not always easily legible.

Some indexes do not have a copy order service. Sometimes the files are very large in size and in these cases copies can only be ordered in the reading room after viewing the records.
A proportion of State archives are fragile and we may need to withhold access to the original archive to protect it while it receives attention from our Conservation staff. Items will be checked as they are requested. If an item requires conservation treatment there will be a delay in the archive being copied. Conservation treatments can take up to six months to be completed.
