Please note: effective from 30 June 2012 State Records will close its city reading room at 2 Globe Street, The Rocks. Reading room services at the Western Sydney Records Centre will be unchanged.
Effective from 1 September 2011 the City reading room will no longer open on Saturdays.
Copies of the core of the State's historical records are available as apart of the Archives Resources Kit, which may be accessed at 40 community access points throughout country New South Wales. A number of other institutions and organisations around the State also hold parts of the kit and copies of State archives.
Our Sydney reading room is located in the historic Rocks area at:
Globe Street runs off George Street and is close to the Nurses' Walk.

There is no car access on Globe Street.
The nearest train station is Circular Quay.
Wheelchair access and toilets for the disabled are provided.

There is ample parking and a well equipped readers' lounge, where there is a microwave and a refrigerator.
As there are no shops nearby, we provide free tea and coffee. If you are planning a full day's research we recommend you bring a packed lunch with you. Wheelchair access and toilets for the disabled are provide.
Opening hours of both reading rooms
Monday - Friday
9.00 am - 5.00 pm
Effective from the 1 September 2011 the City Reading Room will no longer open on Saturdays.
Saturday (Western Sydney Reading Room only)
10.00 am - 4.00 pm
Sundays & Public Holidays
CLOSED
Both reading rooms are wheelchair accessible and toilets for the disabled are provided.
