Ideas for further research
Organizations
Our collection contains the records of organizations that are part
of the NSW government. These records, may however, include material
associated with the registration or regulation of private organizations
such as companies, businesses, charities and friendly societies. These
can be located through the records of agencies such as the Registrar
General, the Companies Office and the Registry of Cooperative and
Friendly Societies.
For a more detailed listing of records search Archives
Investigator, using the advanced search function, then inputting
the agency title in the required field.
Local Government
Our holdings in relation to Local Government records are limited. For more information see Archives in Brief 106: Local Government records.
Further research into records relating to the involvement and participation of women in local government would be best researched by going to the records of the individual councils. Many older council records are held in the local studies collections of the local library.
Parliamentary records
We do not hold the records of the Parliament of NSW. These are managed separately as a legislative archives and are the actual documentary evidence of the legislative activity of Parliament and the administration which services that activity. There are a number of guides available to help with your research on the Parliament of NSW Archives Collection website.
Universities
Universities professionally manage their own archival collections. Researchers are advised to contact specific universities for more details.
