A special touring version of the In Living Memory exhibition was on display at 18 venues throughout New South Wales between May 2008 and October 2010. The exhibition travelled to Moree, Walgett, Brewarrina, Quirindi, Armidale, Ballina, Kempsey, Penrith, Hurstville, Newcastle, Moruya, Bega, Wagga Wagga, Cootamundra, Dubbo, Griffith and Broken Hill.

Touring Exhibition Format
The touring version of In Living Memory includes the same combination of Aborigines Welfare Board photographs and contemporary photos of Indigenous communities by Mervyn Bishop that are still on display at State Records Gallery in The Rocks.
However the photographs have been reproduced in a more portable, durable and adaptable format for display in a wide range of regional museums, galleries and cultural centres. The major themes and content of the exhibition are outlined in the 'Special Exhibition Issue' of Vital Signs magazine.
The exhibition team are taking an active role in the life of the touring exhibition, consulting with local Elders, families and communities and involving them in the presentation of the exhibition. And Mervyn Bishop is continuing his project of documenting NSW communities connected to the photographs of the Aborigines Welfare Board.
Touring Exhibition Highlights
- A selection of Aborigines Welfare Board photographs from Moree, Angledool-Brewarrina-Walgett, Pilliga and Wreck Bay with contemporary photos of these communities by Indigenous photographer Mervyn Bishop
- AWB photographs of Bomaderry, Cootamundra & Kinchela children's homes
- AWB photos published in Dawn magazine and their accompanying stories
- Digital copies of all 1000 photographs from the AWB records accessible via a computer database, searchable by name, place, date and subject with the facility to add family and community information
- 18 albums with prints of all 1000 AWB photographs for visitors to look through and help identify people and places
- Free copies of a 16-page full-colour exhibition catalogue
- Resource information about the State archives for Aboriginal people conducting family history research
