12 Jun 1789 - Gov. Phillip visited the Hawkesbury River

#OnThisDay 12 June 1789 Governor Arthur Phillip visited the Hawkesbury River while on an expedition to Broken Bay. He was looking to expand grazing and agricultural development to stave off starvation in the fledgling colony. He set out to explore the coast to the north of Port Jackson in a cutter and travelled up the Hawkesbury River as far as Dangar Island.
