#OnThisDay 15 August 1904 the Seat of Government Act named Dalgety as the site of the future Federal Capital Territory (now ACT). The site turned out to be unacceptable to the NSW Government, partly due to Dalgety's distance from Sydney and closer proximity to Victoria. The Act was repealed in 1908 and Dalgety was replaced by Canberra as the new site for the capital of the ACT.
