Agency Retrieval

From 1st October 2018 all archive retrievals will be delivered digitally. If your agency is not an existing GRR web user there may be a small delay in servicing your request while we set up new accounts. We will be in contact with all requesting agencies to go over the new processes, including how to access the digital images. For more information about the changes and retrieval charges, please contact retrievearch@records.nsw.gov.au

There are a number of ways to retrieve State archives in State Records' custody:

Online Use the Archives Request Form
Email Email - retrievearch@records.nsw.gov.au
Telephone (02) 9673 1788 and ask for Archives Retrieval
Post Archives Retrieval, State Records
PO Box 516
KINGSWOOD NSW 2747
If you would usually use a Word form to retrieve please contact us and we can send you a new form.

Safe keeping and preservation of State archives

Archives Control is implementing new measures aimed at ensuring the safe keeping and proper preservation of State archives that are requested for retrieval.

These measures include:

  • a limit on the time a State archive can be out of State Records' custody
  • clear conditions for handling and working with State archives
  • issuing copies instead of the original archive if the archive is in poor condition or more than 100 years old.
If you have any enquiries regarding these changes and how they might affect your agency please contact:
