Annie's trial in 1899 - letter from G. Blackburn

There were thirteen letters found in Annie's home by the Police that were presented to the Court as evidence that Annie was conducting a business as an abortionist (Exhibit envelope B2). All the letters are in a similiar friendly tone, as if writing to an old friend or acquaintance. Some of the women had been to visit Annie previously for abortions. The need for secrecy is also evident. It is surprising then that Annie had kept these letters, some of which were over a year old. In this letter, G. Blackburn is about five to six months pregnant, and is asking Annie for help having already tried some home remedies. From NRS 880 [9/6975] Case #8
