This index is for supplementary probate records that are not part of the main probate series. It records the name, date, item number and page number.
IMPORTANT: This index does not include the main series of probate records. The index to the main series is available on microfiche in the reading rooms.
This index was created from 3 series:
- NRS 13502, Supreme Court, Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction: Case papers relating to the granting of probates and letters of administration, 1816-1875, [X953-54, 6/4185-97]
This series includes papers for both testate and intestate estates prior to and following the establishment of the office of Curator of Intestate Estates in 1847.
Intestate papers in the series do not belong with the main series of Curator of Intestate Estate: Case Papers, NRS 13538 [6/3481-910, 10/27478-28006].
Because of their miscellaneous nature these papers have been boxed chronologically and indexed by name. The series is not complete, and the information varies from case to case.
- NRS 2665, Supreme Court of New South Wales, Court of Civil Jurisdiction: Probate papers [Court of Civil Jurisdiction] 20 July 1790 - 14 July 1814, [5/1166]; microfilm copy Reel 391
The Court was empowered to grant probate on wills and administration of the personal estate of intestates dying within the settlement.
- NRS 13725, Supreme Court of Civil Jurisdiction, Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction: Register of wills proved and letters of administration granted, 1817 - 1824 [7/2582]; microfilm copy Reel 2658.
Copies of wills proved under the Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of the Supreme Court with the relevant letters of administration or probate orders.
The dates refer to those of the probate order or letters of administration rather than the dates of the wills which in many instances are much earlier.
