The Ned Kelly Papers
In August 2002 several documents relating to the capture of the bushranger Ned Kelly and his gang were returned to State Records' custody. These documents (temporary ref: State Records NSW: NUA226) were archival estrays (that is, they had passed from the control of the public office responsible for the record). The documents belong with State Records NSW: Colonial Secretary; NRS 906, Special bundles, 1826-1982, Kelly Gang - Papers re reward, capture etc., 1879-82 [SZ 71], Reel 1709. The documents will be reunited with these papers.
State Records received a second series of documents, also archival estrays, in May 2003 (temporary ref: State Records NSW: NUA 262). These have been added below.
