About this guide
State Records' Short Guides are designed to provide easy reference to record series relating to a particular subject or area of research. This guide provides an Index to the Abstract of all licences for marriage granted to free persons, 17 March 1813-26 December 1827. It was previously published as Information Leaflet 39. It has since been edited and updated with the CGS (Concise Guide Series) number. This new means of identifying records is based on the Australian archival standard 'series system'. The number will in due course be migrated to the State Records Control System.
This will mean that published citations of State archives will remain valid after the relevant archives have been converted to the new system of control. In time, these series numbers will replace the old 'stroke' reference numbers used in previous publications.
