It is with great pleasure I acknowledge the generosity of these wonderful genies: Tamea (N.S.W.), Sharon (S.A.), who joined me to transcribe these records; Gloria, Lyn and Maurie (Qld) for transcribing and painstakingly proofing the results and Lyn and Maurie for gathering, from other sources, missing information, and helping to make searching for the vessels our rels travelled, or worked on, available for Genies everywhere. Their time, patience and skills have made this online Index possible.
The information available on this Index has been transcribed from the State Records Authority of NSW Reels of the Shipping Master's Office, an Index of Vessels Arrived, 1837-1925 (4/5195-97, X69-73 Reels 2502-2503A).
Please note that there were a number of pages, or sections of pages, missing from the original records, therefore this Index has been augmented with records from 'The Shipping Gazette and Sydney Trade Journal', the 'Sydney Morning Herald' Shipping Columns and vessel scans which are recorded on the Mariners and Ships in Australian Waters site. One complete section of vessels with names commencing with letter A, was not on the reels, it will be able to be reconstructed when the Mariners and ships in Australian Waters project has been completed.
Every care possible has been taken with these records but, as usual, remember to check original sources of everything for yourself."
